A local BNP leader was killed in a road accident in Bahubal upazila of Habiganj district on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. in front of the Mohona Community Center on the Dhaka–Sylhet highway. The deceased was identified as Moniruzzaman Khan Faruk, aged 50, a member of the BNP in Bahubal upazila.

According to Bahubal Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Saiful Islam, Faruk was returning home to Mirpur on his motorcycle when a bus of Hanif Paribahan ran him over. He died on the spot. Police later recovered the body, but the bus involved in the accident could not be seized.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any further investigation or legal action has been initiated regarding the incident.
