Khulna Metropolitan BNP has announced a two-phase special action plan to address rising dengue infections in Khulna city and ensure rapid care for patients. The plan was unveiled at a press conference at Liaquat Ali Auditorium of Khulna Press Club at 11am on Tuesday by metropolitan BNP president and KDA chairman Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona.

The prevention programme includes providing fogging machines, equipment, medicines and insecticides; cleaning wetlands with local residents; removing waterlogging; public announcements; and distributing awareness leaflets. With support from Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and the Doctors Association of Bangladesh, the group also plans blood-group matching, diagnostic support, blood collection and awareness campaigns at schools and colleges.

For patients, the plan includes doctors’ advice at home in emergencies, medicine supplies as needed and continuous follow-up. Within 48 hours, BNP said it would establish at least a 50-bed central service centre in every affected police-station area and 20-bed centres in larger wards based on population density. Each centre is planned to have doctors, health assistants, equipment and blood-group matching facilities.
