Iran has issued a broader and tougher warning against any potential US military attack, saying its response would not be confined to the Persian Gulf. In a message posted on X, lawmaker Ebrahim Rezaei, a member of Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said Iran would strike enemy bases and the sources of any attack wherever they are located. Rezaei said Iran’s response to any hostile attack would target all enemy bases and sources with the strongest possible retaliation. Iran’s senior political and military leadership had previously warned that attacks on the country’s power or energy infrastructure would be met with counterattacks on oil and gas facilities across the Persian Gulf.

The Iranian official said the United States may believe it could force Iran into surrender through a rapid and destructive strike during two days of global market closure. He called that idea an illusion and alleged that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had promoted it to US President Trump during a visit to Washington last week. Rezaei warned that even a minor strike on Iran would bring consequences across the region and its infrastructure.
