Police recovered the bodies of a tea-worker couple who were found hanging from the same rope in Mathiura Tea Garden in Rajnagar, Moulvibazar. The bodies were recovered on Sunday morning from the Mokam Akashi Tila area of Section No. 20 of the garden. The deceased were identified as Udna Tea Garden workers Mangal Bauri, 35, and Binota Bauri, 32.
According to police, Mangal Bauri married Binota, a widow from the same garden, one month earlier without informing his first wife. Police said family objections prevented him from taking his second wife to his home. As a result, Mangal had been moving with Binota among relatives' homes in different tea gardens.
A guard at Mathiura Tea Garden saw the couple's bodies hanging on Sunday morning. Garden authorities then informed police, who recovered the bodies. Police are initially treating the incident as suicide. The report did not provide further details about any investigation, other possible circumstances, or subsequent legal action.
