Abul Monsur Ahad, a resident of Dakshin Abdul Nabi village in Rajapur Union of Daganbhuiyan upazila, Feni, has alleged that his brother embezzled Tk 21,798,079 that he sent home over 14 years while working in South Africa. At a press conference at Feni Press Club on Wednesday, Ahad claimed his brother Omar Alam Forhad misappropriated the money he had sent between 2009 and 2023, which was meant for purchasing property and starting a business.

According to Ahad’s written statement, he sent Tk 6,280,148 to his brother’s personal bank account and Tk 15,513,725 to the account of N A Construction. Upon returning to Bangladesh in 2023, he discovered that his brother had used the funds to buy property and start businesses in his own name, denying Ahad any ownership or financial accountability. Ahad further alleged that he was threatened and barred from visiting the family home when he demanded an explanation.

He said repeated attempts to resolve the matter through relatives and local elders failed, leaving him destitute and ill. He has now sought legal recourse and appealed to authorities for a fair investigation and justice.
