Two construction workers were killed and another injured when a soil collapse buried them during culvert construction in the Dorianagar area of Cox’s Bazar suburb on Thursday, June 4, 2026, around 11:30 a.m. The deceased were identified as Md. Iliyas and Rakib, both from Banshkhali upazila in Chattogram district. The incident occurred while workers were cutting the base of the culvert, part of a road leading to the specialized outer campus and research center of Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.

According to Lucky Enterprise manager Abdur Rahman Majumder, three workers were trapped under the soil and later rescued by colleagues. They were taken to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared Iliyas and Rakib dead. The third worker remains under treatment. Police from Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Station visited the site and said the bodies were sent for autopsy. Investigators are examining whether safety measures were properly followed during the construction.

Authorities stated that legal action would be taken if any complaint is filed by the victims’ families.
