National Citizen Party leaders and activists held a protest march and rally in Rangpur over an attack on an NCP convoy in Habiganj. Organized by the district and metropolitan NCP units, the march began in front of the city press club at 9pm on Tuesday, travelled through major roads, and ended at the press club.

Speakers at the brief rally included district NCP convener Al Mamun, metropolitan member secretary Abdul Malek, senior joint member secretary Alamgir Nayan, and Imtiaz Ahmed Imti, convener of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti Rangpur metropolitan unit. They demanded the home minister’s resignation, calling him ungrateful and arguing that he should step down when attacks occur against student and public figures they described as central to his rise.

The speakers strongly condemned the reported attack on Sarjis Alam and Nasiruddin Patwary. They alleged that activists described as terrorists from Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal were involved and demanded swift, impartial and exemplary legal action. They said attacks, intimidation and violence could not suppress legitimate demands or democratic rights, and pledged to continue a peaceful, democratic and united movement against wrongdoing.
