At least 291 people have been confirmed dead in what is being described as one of the worst plane crashes in recent memory in Ahmedabad, India. Of the 242 passengers on board, 241 reportedly lost their lives. The aircraft crashed into the hostel of BJ Medical College, killing over 50 more people on the ground. Police officer Vidhi Chaudhary told Reuters, "The death toll stands at around 294, including some students who were staying at the hostel." She noted that the lone survivor was seated in seat 11-E, next to an emergency exit, which might have saved his life. Authorities are still checking hospitals for potential survivors.
