A man identified as Mitul, described as a member of the Swechchhasebak Dal’s Ward 37 unit under Kotwali police station, was killed in a clash in Old Dhaka’s Sadarghat area. The confrontation took place around 11 p.m. on Saturday at East Bengal Super Market in Sutrapur police station jurisdiction, reportedly over the division of extortion money. His body was kept at the Mitford Hospital morgue. His home was listed as Sahabangla village in Jhalakathi Sadar upazila.

Witnesses said former Jubo Dal leader Sobhan and Kiron, a former senior joint convenor of Dhaka Metropolitan South Chhatra Dal, had been in a long-running dispute. Both were known as followers of Dhaka Metropolitan South Sramik Dal convenor Md Sumon Bhuiyan and were seeking positions in Kotwali Thana Jubo Dal. Local sources said one member of Kiron’s group was killed and another person was injured.

Mitul was reportedly struck in the chest with cloth-cutting scissors and was declared dead after being taken to hospital. About 80 to 100 agitated people, including relatives, gathered at Mitford Hospital and chanted slogans. Sumon Bhuiyan said they were not his supporters. Police said they initially believed an existing dispute among workers had led to the attack.
