The Nationalist Citizens’ Party (NCP) has formally lodged a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) against BNP leader Rumeen Farhana, accusing her supporters of intimidation and violence. In a letter, NCP leader Ataullah claimed that Farhana’s cadres threatened him to prevent his participation in a boundary dispute hearing. He alleged that when he entered the EC premises, officials initially obstructed him, and moments before the hearing began, he was allowed in—only to be attacked by Farhana’s supporters in front of the commissioners. Ataullah criticized the Election Commission for inaction during the alleged assault, calling it unprecedented even under what he termed “the authoritarian rule of Hasina.” He urged the EC to prove its neutrality by initiating criminal proceedings against Farhana and her associates. “If you cannot remain impartial, step down and allow capable individuals to take responsibility,” Ataullah warned.
