Dhaka Metropolitan Police said it arrested 458 people and filed 64 cases during regular operations across the capital over the past 24 hours. The report, published on August 4, 2026, said police conducted drives in areas under different police stations in Dhaka and made the arrests while recovering evidence and narcotics.
Mirpur Division recorded the highest number of arrests, with 135 people detained, followed by Uttara with 71 and Tejgaon with 57. Wari arrested 49 people, Lalbagh 37, Motijheel 36, Ramna 34, Gulshan 31, the Detective Branch six and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit two.
Police said the seized items included 11 kilograms and 980 grams of cannabis, 6,336 yaba tablets and 90 bottles of phensedyl. Other items recovered were one one-shooter gun, one samurai, 17 mobile phones, 30 blank cheque-book pages, Tk1,080 in cash and counterfeit notes worth Tk2.8 million. Legal action against those arrested is under process, according to the report.
