Former England captain Michael Vaughan sharply criticised Pakistan’s batting during their England tour after the side were bowled out for 110 in the first innings of the second Test at Lord’s. Speaking on the BBC’s Test Match Special, Vaughan said Pakistan’s batting lineup was comparable to an English second-division county team and was making England’s bowlers’ job very easy.

Vaughan said Pakistan’s batters were unable to put any pressure on the opposition, leaving England’s bowlers without a significant challenge. Pakistan had already been pushed onto the back foot after losing the first Test by an innings and 53 runs, and their poor batting continued at Lord’s.

Babar Azam returned to the side after recovering from injury but scored only eight in the first innings. Captain Shan Masood, Abdullah Shafique and Mohammad Rizwan also failed to reach double figures. Azaan Awais was Pakistan’s highest scorer with 46 runs, underlining the team’s batting collapse.
