An investigation report has been filed at a tribunal against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 10 others in the killing case of Ekramul Haque, a councillor of Teknaf municipality in Cox’s Bazar. The prosecution submitted the charge sheet on Sunday morning, July 26, to Tribunal-2 led by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury.

A nationwide anti-drug operation began on May 4, 2018, under the slogan, “Let’s go to war against drugs.” Ekramul Haque was killed in what was described as a gunfight in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, on the night of May 26 that year.

The report said audio of Haque’s final moments was recorded after calls from his daughter and wife to his mobile phone were answered. The audio recording spread on social media and prompted widespread criticism across the country. It also raised questions over accounts of “crossfire” incidents involving RAB and other law-enforcement agencies.
