CNG drivers blocked the Dhaka-Lakshmipur highway in Lakshmipur on Sunday night, demanding an end to the gas shortage and the prompt reopening of a CNG filling station. The protesters gathered in front of Green Life Filling Station and halted traffic on both sides of the road for about an hour. The disruption caused severe inconvenience for ordinary passengers.

The drivers said the district's only CNG filling station has remained closed for a long time because of the gas crisis. They said they must travel to distant areas to obtain gas, increasing both travel time and expenses. According to the protesters, their daily income has fallen, leaving them and their families in hardship. They called for gas supplies to be restored and the station to resume operations quickly.

The blockade created long queues of vehicles on both sides of the highway. Police arrived and held discussions with the protesters. The situation began to return to normal after authorities assured them that their demands would be conveyed to higher authorities. Traffic Inspector Kamrul Hasan said the gas problem was national rather than local, and the drivers later cleared the road.
