Police have arrested Akash Chowdhury, a suspended member of Jamaat-e-Islami, for kicking a woman during a rally organized by the Democratic Student Alliance in Chattogram. Akash became notorious on social media following a series of violent acts after the recent mass uprising—including assaults on dissenters, abducting a youth from the streets, and the public harassment of a woman. Officer-in-Charge Abdul Karim confirmed that Akash has been presented before the court under the Speedy Trial Act.
