A Dhaka court ordered expelled Adabor thana BNP joint convener Monowar Hossain Jibon, also known as Ledu Hasan, to jail after rejecting a seven-day remand request in the murder case of Abul Bashar Badshah. Badshah was the general secretary of the BNP’s Nobodoy Housing unit in Mohammadpur. Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam issued the order on the afternoon of August 2.

Investigating officer Hafizur Rahman had sought the remand after producing Ledu before the court. The complainant was also present and submitted an affidavit stating that Ledu was not the real accused. The report said, however, that statements under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code by other arrested suspects identified Ledu as the main killer and said he supplied a weapon to kill Parvez. It also said Ledu faces 32 cases involving murder, weapons, drugs and other offences.

According to the allegations, Badshah and Saddam Hossain were attacked with sharp weapons at Nobodoy’s four-road intersection on July 1. Badshah was declared dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, while Saddam was receiving treatment at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. Badshah’s wife, Mosa. Smriti Akter, filed the case at Adabor police station. Ten people have been arrested so far.
