Police and Border Guard Bangladesh recovered the decomposed body of an unidentified Bengali trader from a forest near Jaitun Para in Ruma upazila of Bandarban on Tuesday morning. The body, which bore a gunshot wound to the head, was sent to Bandarban Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Law enforcement officials detained twelve people for questioning in connection with the killing and filed a case at Ruma Police Station. Authorities said security operations have been intensified in the area to uncover the motive behind the murder.

Local organizations strongly condemned the killing, blaming armed miscreants for the attack. In response, several groups including the Parbatya Chattogram Nagorik Parishad, Chhatra Parishad, Jubo Parishad, and Mohila Parishad held a protest rally at the Muktamancha grounds in Bandarban town. Speakers at the rally demanded a fair investigation, enhanced security for Bengali residents in the hill region, and the reestablishment of withdrawn army camps and new Border Guard posts to curb armed activities.

Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that maintaining law and order in the area remains a top priority.
