Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued a public appeal to the Election Commission, the incoming government, the BNP, and law enforcement agencies. In a Facebook post on Saturday, he acknowledged the BNP alliance’s majority win and affirmed respect for the constitutional process. He noted that the Jamaat-led alliance received about 40% of votes compared to BNP’s 54%, emerging as a strong national force. Several constituencies are under formal review by the Election Commission, and Jamaat will pursue all lawful means to ensure transparency where questions have arisen.

Dr. Rahman emphasized that democracy requires transparency and accountability, urging that every vote be properly counted and all credible concerns verified. He cited the July Charter and referendum results showing 68% support for reform as a clear national mandate for change. He called on the new government to honor this mandate, uphold the rule of law, and govern with restraint and accountability.

He urged the Election Commission to act impartially and law enforcement to respond firmly to any violence or illegality, while calling on BNP leadership to demonstrate constitutional governance and equal accountability for all.
