For the first time, the Bangladesh Coast Guard tugboat ‘BCGIT Promotta’ and its crew have received a Certificate of Appreciation from the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The award recognizes their immediate fire control and rescue of 48 crew members during a severe blaze on the MT Banglar Sourav tanker off the coast of Chattogram last year. Despite harsh weather and strong currents, ‘Promotta’ took effective environmental protection measures, earning international acclaim for courage and professionalism. This achievement is regarded as a proud milestone for Bangladesh.
