Newly elected Member of Parliament for Cumilla-4 (Debidwar) and National Citizens Party (NCP) South Region chief organizer Hasnat Abdullah sharply criticized internal corruption within Debidwar Police Station during a law and order committee meeting on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Speaking in the presence of senior police officials, including Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Moniruzzaman, he labeled the station’s second officer and a sub-inspector as corrupt and instructed the OC to free the station from brokers.

Hasnat alleged that some officers under the OC were not sincere and that the second officer was “fully corrupted,” taking no action without money. He also claimed that a non-police individual named Helal exerted undue influence over police operations, including case filing and complaint handling. The MP further accused a syndicate of brokers and drug dealers of operating around the station, making ordinary citizens afraid to approach police directly.

He stated that he had personally investigated the matter over the past year and consulted journalists and civil society representatives. Hasnat pledged cooperation with the police administration to improve law and order.
