Dhaka Range DIG Rezaul Karim Mallik has vowed stern action against those behind violent protests in Faridpur, saying, “Fascists will be brought under the law. I have instructed my authorities to arrest them.” On Monday, protesters demanding restoration of a parliamentary constituency blocked highways and railways, leading to clashes. At least 4–5 police officers were injured. DIG Mallik held talks with the district commissioner, assigning responsibility for damages to the district police and administration. DC Kamrul Hasan Molla said they have communicated people’s grievances to the Election Commission and submitted a report, while also calling for calm as the matter is under High Court review.
