The United Nations has congratulated the people of Bangladesh for successfully holding elections and a referendum. In a message issued on Saturday, the UN reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting Bangladesh in its efforts to build a peaceful and prosperous future.

According to the message, UN Secretary-General António Guterres called on all political stakeholders to maintain the current momentum, strengthen national unity, uphold democratic values and the rule of law, ensure full protection of human rights, and safeguard minority communities. The UN also emphasized that as Bangladesh moves forward on a path of transformation and pursues inclusive and sustainable reforms, political will and cooperation will be essential to advance that process.

Earlier, the organization had reiterated its promise to assist Bangladesh in its pursuit of peace and prosperity, highlighting the importance of unity and democratic governance in the country’s ongoing development journey.
