Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said children who develop themselves properly can help build a beautiful and prosperous Bangladesh in the future. He made the remarks on July 27, 2026, while speaking as chief guest at the closing and prize-giving ceremony of Notun Kuri Sports 2025-26 at Bangladesh Army Stadium. The large sports competition for adolescents was held under the theme, “If sports become a profession, families will find support.”

Addressing children and young athletes, Rahman urged them to focus on both studies and sports. He said Bangladesh’s future is looking toward them and expressed confidence that the thousands present could include future doctors, engineers, architects, and internationally competitive cricketers, swimmers and tennis players. He also said the government was working tirelessly to improve the educational environment and would provide full support for children’s development in studies, sports, music or drawing.

The prime minister asked children to discourage littering, place waste in designated locations and, where possible, clean rubbish from ponds and rivers with friends. He urged them to plant a tree each year and care for animals and birds. He also appealed to journalists and media professionals to give prominence to children’s initiatives and achievements.
