Home Affairs Adviser Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has warned that the government will take a zero-tolerance approach against extortion and mob violence. Speaking at a meeting in Cox’s Bazar, he said no one is above the law and strict action will be taken against anyone trying to take justice into their own hands. He added that drug control must target not only couriers but also kingpins. Jahangir also expressed concern about rising crime in Rohingya camps, noting that a dedicated adviser has been assigned to tackle the issue. He later inaugurated construction of the July Martyrs’ Memorial in the area.
