Opposition leader and Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqul Rahman stated that there will be no compromise on Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty. Speaking at a meeting with local journalists at the Netrakona District Circuit House on Friday morning, he emphasized that not even a grain of sand of the country would be surrendered. He said that alongside the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), all citizens must act as guardians of the nation.

Later, Dr. Rahman attended the Jamaat-e-Islami Netrakona district branch’s semi-annual members’ conference as the chief guest. He mentioned that his party had sent a notice to the government seeking discussion on border issues, but the government had not allowed such talks. He added that when the parliament session begins on the 7th, they will again raise the issue for discussion.

Dr. Rahman further said that if necessary, he would personally issue the notice to ensure the matter is addressed in parliament. He stressed that the parliament represents 180 million people, and a united voice from it would send a strong message of national unity to the world.
