Police recovered the partially decomposed hanging body of Tanvir Hossain Shuvo, aged 45, an additional director of Bangladesh Bank, from his rented apartment in North Mugda, Dhaka, on Tuesday night. Sub-inspector Md. Borhan Uddin of Mugda Police Station said officers broke open the door around 9:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a foul smell and found the body hanging. Relatives and colleagues were informed, and the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy after completing legal procedures.

According to police, Shuvo’s father is Tabarak Hossain, and the family’s permanent residence is in Segunbagicha. Shuvo had been living alone in the Mugda apartment. The landlord last saw him on Eid day, and after noticing a strong odor from the room, informed police. It was also learned that Shuvo had recently divorced.

Authorities are continuing the investigation to determine the cause and circumstances of death.
