Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Chakaria and Pekua in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday, June 13, 2026. According to the official schedule, he will arrive at Cox’s Bazar International Airport at 9:45 a.m., inaugurate a canal excavation project in Machuakhali, and later attend a tree-planting event at Dulahazara Safari Park. He will also visit the grave of student leader Wasim Akram in Pekua and lay foundation stones for the newly formed Matamuhuri Upazila and Pekua Municipality. The day’s programs will conclude with a BNP-organized public rally at 4 p.m. at the Shaheed Abdul Hamid Municipal Bus Terminal in Chakaria, where Rahman will deliver the keynote speech.
Home Minister and BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed inspected the venues on Friday, including the safari park and the rally site, and provided guidance to local officials, law enforcement, and party members. Local BNP leaders reported that a three-tier security system has been implemented for the Prime Minister’s visit, with additional measures by the administration and police.
The visit marks Rahman’s first trip to Chakaria and Pekua since forming the government, generating a festive atmosphere among local BNP supporters.
