In March, Rumor Scanner detected 298 cases of misinformation spreading across the internet. In comparison, 271 cases were identified in January and 268 in February. Among the March cases, at least 27 were related to rape. Political misinformation accounted for 105 cases, making up 35% of the total. Other categories included 103 cases of national issues, 12 international, 36 religious, 3 related to entertainment and literature, 3 educational, 12 cases of fraud, and 16 cases related to sports. The majority of false information, 143 cases, was video-based. Among the detected misinformation, 168 were outright false, 97 were misleading, and 31 were distorted. Facebook was the primary platform for spreading misinformation, with 273 instances. Additionally, Indian media propagated four misleading reports involving Bangladesh, and three instances of misinformation were spread from Indian social media accounts and pages.
