The main accused in the murder of child Ramisa Akter, Sohel Rana, and his wife Swapna Khatun were brought before the Dhaka Metropolitan Tribunal for the Suppression of Violence Against Children on Sunday, June 7. The couple was presented under tight police security before Judge Masrur Salekin’s court in Mirpur, where the verdict in the case was scheduled to be announced at 11 a.m.

The case involves the rape and brutal killing of Ramisa Akter in Pallabi, Mirpur, a crime that drew significant public attention. The tribunal’s verdict comes only 20 days after the murder, marking what has been described as a rare instance of swift judicial action. Ramisa’s father was present in court to hear the verdict.

According to the report, the accused could face the maximum punishment under the law if found guilty.
