National Citizen Party, or NCP, chief organiser for the northern region Sarjis Alam accused BNP activists of attacking his vehicle in Golapganj, Sylhet, on Thursday. In social-media posts, he alleged that BNP “terrorists” carried out a bloody attack and vandalised the vehicle. He later alleged a second attack at Five Mile Bazar in Sylhet and asked whether Tarique Rahman wanted to become Sheikh Hasina.

Police said stones were thrown at Alam’s vehicle as he travelled toward Kanaighat after completing a programme in Golapganj. The vehicle’s glass was broken, but no one was injured. The police account did not identify the people involved or attribute responsibility to any political party.

The report also refers to an attack on an NCP march in Habiganj on Tuesday. NCP had accused local BNP and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leaders and activists in that incident. BNP leaders, however, denied the allegations related to the Habiganj attack.
