Jatiya Sangsad whip and Natore-2 lawmaker Advocate Ruhul Quddus Talukdar Dulu blamed the Awami League for Bangladesh’s gas and electricity difficulties, alleging that quick-rental power arrangements and looting had damaged the country. Speaking after Friday prayers at a discussion and prayer event in Naldanga, Natore, he said the problems arose as the BNP came to power.

Dulu said the effects of the Russia-Ukraine war and the Iran-America war had compounded the situation. He alleged that Sheikh Hasina and her associates had emptied banks and left the country after looting funds. He also claimed that quick-rental electricity supplied through Indian companies had temporarily pleased people while placing the power sector in Indian hands and enabling misuse of state money.

He said the public was facing temporary unrest over electricity and gas, but asserted that the issues would be resolved before the agricultural season under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s leadership. Dulu said there was no fertiliser shortage, alleging that dealers appointed by the previous government were trying to create one. He said new fertiliser dealers would be appointed quickly to prevent what he described as conspiracy.
