At the International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Monday, Kabir Hossain Mridha testified as the seventh witness in the case against fugitive Hasina’s son and ICT adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak. He described how his son, Shahid Sanjid Hossain Mridha, was shot during a rally in Uttara on August 5, 2024, after Hasina fled. The bullet entered through the front of his neck and exited through his back, killing him instantly.

Kabir Hossain said his son was taken to Uttara Crescent Hospital, where he was found dead along with eight others. He alleged that police, Jubo League, and Chhatra League members fired the shots that killed his son and others, and that activists vandalized the hospital to prevent treatment of the injured. He claimed around 35 people were killed in the Uttara area that day.

The testimony forms part of the ongoing proceedings in the July massacre case, in which several individuals face charges related to the killings.
