Two local leaders of the BNP’s student and youth wings were killed when a Narayanganj City Corporation waste truck ran over their motorcycle in Siddhirganj on Tuesday evening. The victims were identified as Abdul Kadir Jilani, 26, former general secretary of Fatullah Union Chhatra Dal, and Masum Billah, 27, publicity secretary of Ward 9, Kutubpur Union Jubo Dal. The accident occurred around 6 p.m. in the Jalkuri Jhudpotti area while they were on their way to a coil factory inauguration.

Eyewitnesses said the two men were attempting to overtake the truck when their motorcycle lost control and slipped, causing them to fall under the truck’s wheels. Both died on the spot. Masum Billah, originally from Dashmina in Patuakhali, lived in Fatullah’s Shibu Market area and was involved in local politics and business. Abdul Kadir, from Motlob Uttar in Chandpur, lived in Fatullah’s Delpara Bank Colony area.

Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Emdadul Haque confirmed that the truck had been seized and the bodies sent for autopsy. An investigation is underway.
