Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam said that transport operators have been instructed not to increase fares during the upcoming Eid travel period. He warned that strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to raise fares. The minister made these remarks on Saturday while visiting the Narayanganj terminal, the under-construction Khanpur ICT and Bank Terminal, the Dredger Bay, and the World Bank-funded terminal building at the Machghat area of the river port.

He expressed optimism that this year’s Eid journey will be comfortable and safe, adding that authorities will take measures in areas prone to traffic congestion or disorder. Sheikh Robiul Alam assured that all relevant agencies, including traffic police, river police, and the coast guard, will remain active to ensure smooth travel.

Regarding pollution in the Shitalakshya River, the minister said the issue will be reported to the Ministry of Environment and that his ministry will identify and implement necessary actions promptly.
