Adviser Rizwana Hasan announced that the Bangladesh Army will carry out the re-excavation of the Shubhadhya Canal in Keraniganj under a project worth approximately Tk 317 crore. The project includes canal excavation, embankment construction, development of walkways, and waste management. “The government is investing heavily in this initiative, and we must ensure the canal is not re-filled with waste. Local monitoring committees will be formed for this purpose,” she added. She also mentioned that drainage system upgrades have already begun in various cities to address urban flooding ahead of the upcoming monsoon.
