The constituency had 468,569 registered voters, with a 48 percent turnout.

The results were announced by Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rumana Afroze. The constituency had 295,509 voters, and 170,000 votes were cast.
Following the defeats, Islami Andolan supporters expressed disappointment. Political observers cited strained relations with Jamaat-e-Islami and voter resentment as possible reasons for the losses.
