U.S. President Donald Trump issued a renewed threat to Iran just hours before the deadline he set for Tehran to open the Strait of Hormuz. On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Trump wrote on his Truth Social account that an entire civilization could be destroyed that night and might never return. He added that while he did not want such an outcome, it might be inevitable. Trump also suggested that recent changes in governance could bring better results, expressing hope for the Iranian people.

Trump had earlier warned that if Iran failed to reach an agreement to open the Strait by Tuesday night, the country could be wiped out in a single night. He referred to Tuesday as “Power Plant Day” and “Bridge Day,” setting the deadline at 8 p.m. U.S. time, equivalent to 6 a.m. Wednesday in Bangladesh. The statement came amid escalating regional tensions, including reports of attacks in Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.

The situation remains tense as the deadline approaches, with uncertainty over Iran’s response and potential regional fallout.
