Colonel (Retd.) Oli Ahmed, chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), has alleged irregularities in the Chattogram-14 (Chandanaish–part of Satkania) constituency following his son Omar Faruk’s defeat in the 13th National Parliamentary Election held on 12 February 2026. According to unofficial results, BNP candidate Jasim Uddin Ahmed won with 76,493 votes, while Omar Faruk, supported by the 11-party alliance under the ‘Umbrella’ symbol, received 75,467 votes—a difference of 1,026 votes.

In a video message posted on social media on 13 February, Oli Ahmed claimed that unidentified individuals entered several polling centers after 4:30 p.m. and forcibly cast ballots. He also alleged that law enforcement personnel obstructed his party workers and assaulted them. Additionally, he accused the rival candidate of moving around with multiple vehicles and holding processions without intervention from security forces.

Oli Ahmed further stated that about 4,500 of his son’s votes were canceled without clear justification and described the process as “planned.” He urged his supporters to remain calm and avoid conflict, while calling on authorities to strengthen patrols in the area.
