Police in Kolmakanda, Netrokona, have arrested former upazila vice chairman and former Volunteer League member secretary Md Rafiquzzaman, also known as Khokon, in connection with a sabotage case. He was detained early Tuesday from the Pabai Mor area of Pogla Union. Authorities later sought court approval to send him to jail. According to a police report submitted to the court, the arrest was made based on findings from an ongoing investigation.

Police stated that the case stems from incidents on January 4, 2025, when a group allegedly linked to banned Chhatra League activists carried out anti-state slogans, processions, and explosions at Lengura Bazar in Kolmakanda. The group reportedly vandalized and looted a local furniture shop owned by businessman Shamsul. Investigating officer SI Md Abu Taher said preliminary evidence connects the arrested suspect to the events, and the investigation remains active.

Kolmakanda Police’s investigation officer-in-charge Sajal Sarkar confirmed that the arrest was made on specific allegations and that the suspect was presented before the Netrokona court on Tuesday afternoon.
