Police from Chandraghona station detained Masum Talukdar, also known as Chhoto Masum, during a special operation in Rajsthali upazila of Rangamati district. The 35-year-old was detained around 5:30pm on Sunday from the Shafipur area of Bangalhalia union. The report identifies him as an accused in multiple cases and alleges that he was involved in drug trafficking.

Talukdar was previously president of Bangalhalia Union Jubo League, according to the report. It also says he had been running a drug business in the area for a long time. He is the son of Shahadat Hossain, a resident of Ward No. 2 in Shafipur.

Chandraghona police station Officer-in-Charge Saker Ahmed said police arrested Talukdar through the special operation, describing him as an accused in multiple Rangamati Sadar police station cases and a notorious drug trader. Police said he would be shown arrested the following day in cases at Chandraghona police station and Rangamati Kotwali police station, before being produced before the court.
