Authorities in Gafargaon, Mymensingh, have imposed Section 144 at Lamkain Eidgah to prevent potential clashes over the selection of an imam for Eid prayers. The longstanding imam, Mufti Maulana Mohammad Ali, has led Eid prayers for over two decades, but a faction of locals is demanding a replacement, leading to rising tensions. To prevent any untoward incidents, the administration has banned gatherings, carrying of weapons, and the use of loudspeakers in the area on Eid day.
