The officer-in-charge (OC) of Daudkandi Police Station in Cumilla, M.A. Bari, has been withdrawn following allegations that two police officers sold 160 kilograms of seized cannabis to drug traffickers. The withdrawal order was issued on Tuesday evening, transferring him to the Cumilla Police Lines. The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday night when a covered van traveling from Chattogram to Dhaka was searched by Sub-Inspector Md. Imam Uddin and Assistant Sub-Inspector Hafizur Rahman, who allegedly sold the seized cannabis instead of recording it as evidence.

Witnesses claimed that the officers detained the van near the local fire service office and were later seen communicating with suspected drug dealers. The cannabis was allegedly sold at around 6,000 taka per kilogram, and the van was released for 30,000 taka. Both accused officers denied involvement, while the OC declined to comment on the allegations. Assistant Superintendent of Police Khalilur Rahman stated that an investigation is underway and departmental action will follow if the allegations are proven.

Police authorities have not yet provided an official explanation for the OC’s withdrawal.
