BNP’s paddy-sheaf symbol candidate Enamul Haque Enam has won the Chattogram-12 (Patiya) constituency by a large margin. Voting took place peacefully on Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After counting, Enam led in all centers and was declared the winner by Assistant Returning Officer and Patiya Upazila Executive Officer Farhanur Rahman at the Patiya Upazila hall room on Thursday night. Enam received 134,060 votes, while his nearest rival, Islami Front’s Air Muhammad Peyaru with the candle symbol, got 28,806 votes. Jamaat’s candidate Dr. Faridul Alam, with the scale symbol, came third with 20,940 votes. The final result will be announced by Returning Officer and Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia.

Field reports indicated that voter turnout was moderate in the morning but declined as the day progressed, though female voter presence was notable. Patiya BNP’s former member secretary Khorshed Alam expressed gratitude to the people of Patiya, saying they had elected a persecuted and humble leader who would work wholeheartedly for the constituency.

The election was marked by peaceful voting and a decisive victory margin for the BNP candidate.
