BNP-nominated candidate Abul Hossain has been declared the unofficial winner in the Barishal-6 (Bakerganj) constituency, according to results from all 123 polling centers. He secured 81,087 votes under the paddy sheaf symbol. His closest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md. Mahamudunnabi, received 54,533 votes with the scale symbol, while Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s Mufti Fazlul Karim came third with 28,823 votes under the hand fan symbol. The results were announced by Rumana Afroze, the Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Bakerganj.
The constituency has a total of 295,509 registered voters, including 149,600 men, 145,906 women, and three third-gender voters. Following the announcement of the unofficial results, BNP leaders and activists in Bakerganj celebrated Abul Hossain’s victory.
The results remain unofficial, pending formal confirmation by the Election Commission.
