Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has warned India that any attempt to permanently block the waters of the Indus River will be met with consequences India “will never forget.” The threat follows India’s suspension of the Indus Water Treaty after a deadly April attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The international court has since directed India to comply with the treaty. Pakistan has welcomed the ruling, while tensions remain high over potential Indian dam projects on the rivers flowing into Pakistan.
