During the peak of the anti-discrimination student movement, one of its coordinators, Nahid Islam, was abducted and subjected to severe physical abuse. The incident came to light on July 21, 2026, when images of his injuries—bruises on his thigh, arms, and shoulder—were revealed as he received treatment at Gonoshasthaya Hospital in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. Nahid stated that two days earlier, a group of men in plain clothes had taken him from a friend’s house late at night and tortured him both physically and mentally.

According to Nahid, around 20 to 25 men raided the house where he was hiding, blindfolded him, and transported him for about 30 to 35 minutes before detaining and interrogating him. He was beaten with iron rods and lost consciousness for nearly a day. Upon regaining consciousness, he found himself on a roadside in Purbachal and managed to return home before being hospitalized. His parents had spent the previous day outside the Detective Branch office, alleging that police had detained him but were denying it.

The report did not mention any official response or investigation into the abduction and torture allegations.
