In Palashbari of Gaibandha, the Imam-Ulama Council, along with local citizens and civic groups, organized a peaceful human chain on Friday after Juma prayers demanding the removal of an under-construction Ram statue. The hour-long demonstration took place at the Palashbari Chaumatha intersection and saw participation from Islamic leaders, activists, and residents. The event was presided over by Maulana Sadekul Islam, with several local religious and political figures addressing the gathering.

Speakers at the event stated that communal harmony in Palashbari had remained intact since independence and called for an investigation into who was constructing the large statue and for what purpose. They demanded the statue’s removal within 72 hours and warned of tougher programs if their demands were not met.

To prevent any untoward incidents, the administration deployed extensive security measures, including police, RAB, BGB, and executive magistrates across key locations. Authorities confirmed that the law and order situation remained normal and that necessary precautions were in place.
