Immigration police arrested former Fotephur Union Parishad chairman Md Humayun Talukdar at Benapole Immigration Checkpost in Jashore while he was travelling to India for medical treatment. The arrest occurred at about 1pm on Tuesday, 4 August, as he completed immigration procedures to cross through the land port.

Talukdar is also president of Mirzapur upazila Krishak League and a resident of Shubhulya village in Tangail’s Mirzapur upazila. Police sources said on-duty officials found his name on a stop list during an online verification. Immigration police then detained him and formally showed him arrested.

A case has been filed against Talukdar at Mirzapur police station, with allegations under sections 4 and 5 of the Law and Order Disrupting Offences (Speedy Trial) Act, 2002, along with several Penal Code provisions. Benapole Immigration Checkpost officer-in-charge Saifur Rahman said further legal procedures were under way. Mirzapur police station officer-in-charge Abdullah Al Mamun said arrangements were being made to bring Talukdar to the station for necessary legal action.
