Bayern Munich began their Bundesliga title-defence campaign with a commanding 5-1 home victory over Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena. Vincent Kompany’s side controlled the match and opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Dayot Upamecano headed in a Joshua Kimmich corner. Michael Olise, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Luis Diaz also scored, while Stuttgart conceded an own goal.

Stuttgart briefly levelled through Josha Vagnoman’s powerful volley in the 52nd minute. Bayern restored their lead three minutes later as Olise finished Kimmich’s through ball. Vagnoman then turned an Alphonso Davies cross into his own net, making it 3-1. Olise had another goal ruled out for offside, but Bayern continued to press.

Substitute Ismael Saibari set up Pavlovic for Bayern’s fourth in the 82nd minute and later provided the pass for Diaz’s stoppage-time fifth. Harry Kane did not score in the match. The result preserved Bayern’s 15-year unbeaten run in Bundesliga season-opening fixtures, while goalkeeper Manuel Neuer made his 600th competitive appearance for the club.
