The Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), student wing of the BNP, held a protest rally at Dhaka University late Thursday night demanding justice for the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inquilab Mancha. The procession began from the TSC area and marched through key campus roads before concluding with a brief assembly near Begum Rokeya Hall.
JCD leaders, including central general secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir and DU unit president Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas, accused ruling party affiliates of orchestrating the killing to disrupt the upcoming national election. They described Hadi as a frontline activist in the July–August pro-democracy movement and vowed to continue his struggle for democratic rights. The leaders also condemned rumors surrounding his death and expressed condolences to Hadi’s family.
The protest ended with calls for swift justice and national unity against what JCD termed anti-democratic conspiracies. The incident has heightened political tension ahead of the election, with opposition groups warning of further demonstrations if justice is delayed.
